Mentoring & Consultation for

RLT Practitioners

Move From Knowing RLT to Practicing the Art of RLT

Yes! I want to strengthen my RLT Skills!

You’ve completed your Relational Life Therapy training. You understand the model, the stance, and the language.

Now you want more than conceptual clarity and you want fluency in the room.

You’re working with real couples who escalate quickly, cling to defenses when things get heated, and stay stuck even when insight is present. You want to know how to use RLT with confidence and precision in those moments as well as how to stay grounded, tell the truth with care, and make interventions that actually shift the dynamic.

You want to deliver a real breakthrough for your clients, helping them transform their relationship from a battleground into a warm, loving space with the capacity for TRUE INTIMACY.

This is the transition from understanding RLT to practicing the art of RLT.

After all, the Relational Life Therapy Certification Program provides everything needed to complete certification. Outside supervision or consultation is not required.

Many therapists and coaches choose consultation because they:

  • Want to deepen their understanding after certification.
  • Want additional support during the certification process.
  • Are encountering complex cases where theory alone isn’t enough.
  • Want feedback on timing, tone, and clinical judgment.

Consultation offers a place to refine your stance, strengthen your relational authority, and develop the kind of embodied confidence that only comes from slowing the work down and practicing it in real time.

This Work Is For You If You:

  • Recognize grandiosity and shame in your clients, but want to intervene with more precision and confidence.
  • Sometimes, hesitate in joining through the truth to avoid rupturing the alliance, only to push too hard later and then second-guess yourself.
  • Want to stay regulated, relational, and be a steady leader in the session when entitlement, withdrawal, or collapse shows up
  • Are ready to work not just on technique, but on who you are being in the room.
  • Want your clients’ growth to go deeper than insight and actually change how they relate to each other as a couple.
  • Want to feel more competent and confident with the phases of the model and the use of the therapeutic stances

If that is you, then you’re in the right place.

I offer individual supervision and consultation groups for RLT-trained therapists and coaches who want to sharpen their clinical edge and embody the model, even in complex and messy relationships.

Yes! I want to strengthen my RLT Skills!

Hi,

I’m Risa Ganel, LCMFT

I’ve spent over 30 years working with couples in high-stakes relational moments where theory alone isn’t enough. Real change requires steadiness, precision, and honesty. As a Certified Relational Life Therapist and Faculty Trainer with the Relational Life Institute, trained by Terry Real and formerly supervised by Esther Perel, I help my clients find the breakthroughs they need to grow closer together. I also help clinicians move beyond applying RLT concepts to embodying the model with confidence and authority.

In our work together, I’ll help you develop the same capacities that enable me to work effectively with entrenched patterns, such as staying regulated under pressure, working skillfully with shame and grandiosity, knowing when to challenge and when to slow down, and maintaining a clear relational stance even when the room gets hot.

We will sharpen your clinical judgment so you can use RLT with clarity, steadiness, and impact, helping your clients create the transformations they came for, and helping you trust yourself when it matters most.

  • The supervision I received was probably the best I have ever received. I’ve spent so many hours reflecting on it. Every piece Risa offered, from the first to the last, whether in terms of my strengths or the constructive feedback, seems to me to fit with every other piece, and it all makes sense, in and out of the office.

  • You will not find a better professional to gently walk you through the steps than Risa Ganel. I remember saying to her at the end of the first meeting, ” Thank you for not wasting one minute of our time, ” because, frankly, it’s been my experience, in a group setting, that a lot of time gets wasted. Not with Risa. She is focused, deliberate, considerate, attentive, a phenomenal and validating listener, but a person on a mission all the way.

How We Can Work Together

I offer two ways to deepen your mastery of Relational Life Therapy, depending on the level of support and structure you’re looking for.

RLT Mentoring Groups

This option is ideal if you want ongoing development within a community of RLT clinicians.

Consultation groups are designed for therapists and coaches who want:

  • Consistent learning alongside other RLT-trained professionals
  • Exposure to a variety of cases, styles, and relational challenges
  • Feedback that sharpens discernment, confidence, and fluency with the model
  • A space to practice thinking, speaking, and intervening from an RLT stance
  • Support integrating self-of-the-therapist work with clinical application

Groups balance case consultation, skill refinement, and experiential learning. They offer both accountability and perspective, helping you strengthen your clinical voice while staying grounded and relational.

Format: Small group (virtual)

Group size: 5–10 clinicians

Session length: 2 Hours

Frequency: Monthly sessions for 5 months

Investment: $495.00 ($99.00/month)

Groups are intentionally kept small to allow for meaningful participation, case discussion, and relational depth.

Individual Consultation

This option is ideal if you want focused, personalized guidance on your most challenging clinical work.

Individual consultation is designed for RLT-trained therapists and coaches who want to:

  • Get unstuck with complex, high-conflict, or shut-down couples.
  • Refine moment-to-moment RLT interventions in real cases.
  • Skillfully utilize the therapeutic stances and have clarity around the phases of RLT
  • Strengthen clinical judgment around when to confront, when to slow down, and how to stay grounded.
  • Examine countertransference, relational pulls, and your own internal reactions in the room.
  • Build confidence telling the truth with compassion—without overfunctioning or backing away.

Sessions are collaborative, direct, and tailored to your current growth edge. We slow the work down, look closely at what’s happening between you and your clients, and use those moments to sharpen both your skills and your stance.

Format: One-on-one sessions (virtual)

Session length: 60 minutes

Frequency: As needed

Investment: $225/session for RLT Certification Students, $275 for Certified Practitioners

Individual consultation is offered on a limited basis to ensure depth and continuity of work.

Mentoring and Consultation are best suited for

  • Therapists and coaches certified in Relational Life Therapy.
  • Clinicians actively working with couples or individuals using RLT.
  • Professionals who want to be challenged with care.
  • Those committed to ongoing growth, both personally and clinically.
