Couples Retreat

The joy and connection are gone, but not forgotten.

You remember how it was to fall in love with your spouse. You still care deeply for each other, but these days, you’re at a stage where it’s a highlight to agree on what to watch on Netflix.

On top of losing that special zing, maybe you have accrued years of arguments about kids, chores and money. And, maybe you’ve switched from being sweethearts to co-parents without much in common beyond your children, who grow more independent daily.

Compounding this damage, you might feel judged by your mate. Or you might feel stuck seeing your way as the right way.

All of this leads to missed opportunities for true intimacy and connection.

Maybe you’ve built a protective cocoon around your heart. If so, you’ve found this self-protection ends up keeping you from the fulfilling relationship you desire.

You’re nowhere near divorcing. But you’re likely also nowhere near feeling intimately connected with your partner. For example, you might use “reliable” and “long” as the main way to describe your once-exciting, once-special relationship.

While being able to rely on your partner is very important, more is possible.

We all want our spouse to see and appreciate us authentically and deeply. Our greatest wish is to be truly connected to a partner for life.

If you’re like my clients, you want to reclaim your relationship joy. It’s possible to get that special spark back. I can help you make lasting improvements to get the relationship you want and deserve.

“Great is what you deserve. Not merely a relationship you can live with, but one that is truly alive — passionately, tenderly, maddeningly filled to the brim with unexpected twists and turns, with comfort and solidity, with the sense of knowing and being known, and loving each other anyway. How do you get such a relationship? You don’t get it, you build it, thoughtfully and skillfully, brick by brick.”

–Terry Real

Learn how to connect with your wisest, most loving self.

I’m offering a three-day couples retreat to revitalize your relationship.

This retreat is for you if you:

  • Want to experience relational joy and true intimacy,
  • Are committed to a revitalization of your marriage, and
  • Are ready to be personally accountable for the work needed to make that happen.

At the retreat, couples will:

  • Learn how to be a team, instead of opposing forces.
  • Recognize how their histories are impacting the present.
  • Understand their relationship patterns and why they get stuck.
  • Learn new ways of getting unstuck.
  • Understand how to be protected and connected in the relationship.
  • Learn to be lovingly assertive and having a voice in the relationship.
  • Learn to handle conflict instead of avoiding it.
  • Develop healthy listening and responding skills.
  • Learn to take personal accountability for the relationship.
  • Learn the two key factors for the health of your relationship.
  • Move from “me awareness” to “we awareness” and learn why that matters.

Join our mailing list to be the first to see retreat announcements.

At the retreat, my team and I will equip you and your spouse with effective relationship skills. We offer intensive seminars, guest speakers, group activities, and couples and individual lessons…and lots of playfulness and fun. Something every relationship can use more of!

While we are fine-tuning the details, we can say the retreat will be driving distance from the Washington, D.C. region. The facility will be a relaxing retreat from your daily stress, where you will be able to choose from various spa and VIP packages, if you’d like to add those to your weekend.

We offer only one retreat each year, and we anticipate the limited spots will fill quickly. Sign up (with no obligation) to be on our mailing list exclusively for retreat-related information.
